Sundarams South Indian food has been a trusted name in Chandigarh for authentic South Indian cuisine since 2002. The restaurant was founded by Mr. S. Sundaram and his wife, Uma Maheswari, with a simple goal – to share the flavours of their homeland with their new community.

Mr. S. Sundaram, originally from Tanjore, Tamil Nadu, moved to Chandigarh in 1977 and spent years working with a media house. But his real passion lay elsewhere—in food. Uma Maheswari’s gift for creating traditional South Indian cuisine inspired the couple to prepare meals for their family and friends. 

From the beginning, Sundarams stood out for its commitment to fresh ingredients and authentic flavours. In the early days, the kitchen operated without a refrigerator and everything was made from scratch daily. That commitment to freshness continues today, with each dish being prepared without artificial colors or flavours, just as it has always been.

Uma Maheswari has personally crafted the Sundarams menu, drawing on recipes she grew up with. From their famous Onion Rava Dosa to the one-of-a-kind Adai with Kurma in Chandigarh, her dishes have made Sundarams a go-to spot for those craving real South Indian food.

Throughout their journey, Sundarams has prioritised originality, continuously introducing new flavours & tastes and providing unique & refreshing offerings. And one of their trademarks, Rasam, served free to every guest, has earned Mr. Sundaram the affectionate nickname of the ‘Rasam Man.’
